DINNER WITH FRIENDS I’VE NEVER MET

(2nd in a Series called “Dinner with Friends I’ve Never Met”. Blogging friends who are worth visiting.)

We met at Tysdaddy’s castle. Dinner was served in his extensive library surrounded by first edition classics by Cervantes, Dickens and Stephen King. Guest of Honor was Razzbuffnik who for some reason kept excusing himself saying he had to go out to his motorcycle to get something. Dinner was simple but delicious. Peanut Butter and Jelly with tall glasses of milk.

  1. I’m assuming that the PBJ’s were served on silver and that the milk was in crystal?

I’m glad to hear that Tysdaddy didn’t put you up in the Flaming Towers. I’ll grant you that they are beautiful and all, but it’s so hard to hear the conversation over the roar of the blast furnaces. Makes for a great conversation piece though.

-Turkish Prawn (in a white wine sauce)

  2. [blushing]

I’m about to head out the door for work and decided to give the Reader a quick check (not time for much else these days).

The peanut butter was creamy. Jelly was strawberry. Bread was butter-top wheat. And for after-dinner entertainment, the youngest girl did Hannah Montana karaoke, the oldest daughter read a poem she wrote – with an accompanying PowerPoint display, oldest boy played “Iron Man” on his Ibanez, and the youngest boy invited everyone outside to roast marshmallows and catch fireflies.

    Much fun was had . . .

    Gramma, you rock!

    gotta run . . .

  3. And, being Indiana and all, we adults sat down for a rousing round of Euchre after the kids got tucked in and squeeze-smooshed.

  4. Oh and no silver or crystal to be found! Just the finest plastic table ware from the big discount box store! ;) Only the finest, non-breakable, stuff here!

  5. Turkish, you heard Mrs. Tysdaddy, only the finest non breakable plastic table ware was used. I think we might like to go to your house next cuz we really like white wine sauces and seafood.

Oh, planetR…thank you for this image. You know it shall come back to you when you are least expecting it.

Tysdaddy, this is how Irish I am: I thought Euchre was an after dinner drink. Yup, I looked it up. OK. So, other people play games after dinner. Big Whoop. You don’t drink while looking for those five highest cards??

Arynsmom–this is why we like to come to your house…um…castle. Your castle is not intimidating. You leave your Cosco card or BJ or Sam’s Club card on the front hallway marble table so you won’t forget it as you go out each morning.

  6. Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder- so would that have been the after dinner drink, ’cause I’m very fond of the owner of this blog, who puts out challenges extraordinaire, and as a result, attracts a most likewise set of readers.

Damn but those castles are drafty, though.

  7. All I can say is POOR Tysdaddy. Didn’t anyone tell him to put a fire extinguisher in every room? After all, Razzbuffnik was on the guest list and obviously no one bothered to remove his firestarting equipment (matches, lighters, an SOS pack flint, a pair of twigs from the castle’s park…)

Pat – this is absolutely brilliant. Thanks again for a bellyful of giggles. BTW I keep meaning to photograph my desk drawer/s for you. Hopefully tomorrow.

  8. Hey!

    The fires weren’t my fault!

    Really…….

It’s not my fault that there was so much wooden panelling and wainscotting in all the rooms. I was only trying to make some flambé crepes as a surprise.

Who lives in a place lined with fire wood anyway?

    Sheesh!

  9. Oh, I’m laughing now…the flambe crepes surprise excuse!

Thanks to all…we’ll be dining in the near future, each and every one of you!

  10. Oh btw, NO sticky fingers around the priceless tomes! Hands must be washed before handling the books!

He he he he he he!
