The Things We Carry in Boston

I got off the train and walked to the streets of Boston behind this man.  His bags reminded me of all the “stuff” we all carry with us throughout the day.  There was a book titled, “The Things We Carry” that was a haunting portrait of our soldiers in Vietnam as I remember it.  It is a haunting concept in 2014 as well.  Less haunting is the photo below it.  A woman in a lovely red dress passed me on the crosswalk, her earbuds firmly fixed in her ears and carrying a bag on her back that could have held a small vehicle.  Then, I looked at my bag.  Um.  Two small vehicles passed one another on a Boston crosswalk over the weekend.

The Things We Carry, indeed.
