Issey Miyake, the Japanese designer, who survived the Hiroshima atomic blast in August 1945 has died at age 83. He did not like the cost and impracticality of haute couture and innovated fabrics, one of which allowed him to produce pleating for dresses. He also designed turtlenecks and Steve Jobs saw one and asked the designer to send him some. He sent 100 black turtlenecks: combo of cotton and polyester just in case you are wondering. My dahlia seems to have been inspired by the palette and pattern from one of his coats.
